This is our RV Chair review. We’ve owned a number of the standard types of folding camping chairs over the years, and as we get older we started looking around for something with a slightly higher sitting position.
We also found that the standard chairs we getting too saggy in use making it harder to get out of them.
Wandering around a locally owned camping store in Jandakot, we found, one only, RV Chair in stock. Upon testing it we thought it might suit our needs.
While waiting an exorbitantly long time for assistance to see if they had another in stock, a Google search found the identical product from a retailer in SA – and it was cheaper! They were ordered and arrived a week later!
In review we’ve been very happy with the OZTrail RV Chair. Solid arms, a great sitting position with solid arms to help get in and out plus the ability to adjust the lumbar feel have made this a great chair. It also has a higher backrest than most chairs with a padded headrest that you can stuff.
We also enjoy the side pocket with a larger slot for a tablet and three smaller locations for your phone, glasses and a drink bottle. There is also a lower-down flip-out can holder. This works well although sometimes taller bottles foul on the bottom of the pocket. The right armrest features a glass holder that might work well on standard glasses but isn’t big enough for the plastic-stemmed wine and champagne glasses we take on the road.
Overall we found the side pocket design on this chair more practical and useful than other chairs we have owned. It’s also great fun to remind your wife that she has her glasses in the phone pocket and she needs to put them in the right place!
The self-levelling feet seem to work well and we haven’t had an issue on any surfaces that we have used these chairs over more than 18 months.
The design of the OZTrail RV Chair is such that when it folds it ends up being longer than a traditional folding camp chair. It takes a little more room in the tunnel boot or back of the car but not that much that it’s an inconvenience.
While the construction of these chairs is sturdy, they are well made although they still have the same issues as cheaper camp chairs. This includes the stitching coming apart and the rivets pulling through the fabric over time.
We have enjoyed these chairs, and continue to do so, and would recommend them as a great camping chair if the additional folded length isn’t an issue for you.
