Oakabella Station

Oakabella Homestead Entrance sign

Just 20 kilometres south of Northampton is the historic Oakabella Station.

Famous for its scones and food at the tearooms, the old historical buildings give an insight into what farming was like over a 100 years ago.

This is our third stay at Oakabella and we are now well used to ‘park anywhere you like’ – it’s that kind of a freeform paddock where you can have as much or as little room as you require.

Unfortunately, we were there in the aftermath of cyclone Seroja so we were unable to walk around the old buildings or do the homestead tour for safety reasons.

The homestead was showing signs of roof damage and the old barn next door appear to have copped the brunt of the winds and was nearly completely destroyed from what we could see from the car park.

It’s a great place to stop and enjoy a country farm atmosphere that’s close enough to Northampton and Geraldton that all the facilities are close by if you need to resupply.

As we were only here for an overnight stopover we stayed hitched to the car and continued early the next morning.
