About Us

There’s a whole lot of Western Australia out there to see and this blog is about our adventures to try and see it all.  One trip at a time.

We travel with our (now) two dogs, Manchester Terriers named Flynn and Bodhi, so our travels are a little short on National Parks but that doesn’t stop us getting amongst it.

We’ve done a lot of travel over the last 15 years, including nearly 2 years using a Jayco Penguin.  We are currently towing a Van Cruiser X Machine X16 16’2″ which is way big enough for the two of us and the dogs.

The capacity and capabilities of this van, and being fully self contained, have meant we have survived at some locations for a week without power or water on-site.

With 240AH of lithium power 450W of solar and 230L of water plus a grey water tank the X Machine has everything we require for off-grid camping and station stays.

We have recently upgraded the power control system to a full REDARC Total Vehicle Management System with a RedVision display featuring a Bluetooth-connected app for control and monitoring.  A REDARC Manager30 Battery Management System Controls the power inputs to ensure our batteries remain optimally charged from the best available power source.

The Navara has served us well for nearly 10 years, but it was time to upgrade to a Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series.

This machine is an absolute weapon and tows the X Machine with ease!

The torque from the twin-turbo V6 pulls the 2.6 tonnes of caravan up hills with ease.

You will be seeing more of this machine on our future trips.

About our 300 Series LandCruiser

At this stage, the LandCruiser has performed so well towing we haven’t seen a need to spend on any modifications. It has been superb over bitumen highways, and smooth and corrugated gravel roads, including out to Wooleen Station and along the Butchers Track and handled the soft sand at Five Fingers and Mauds Landing with ease.
We have installed a RedArc TowPro electronic brake controller and the required 12-pin plug and Anderson plug required to tow the van. Gotya Covered Denim Car Seats protect our investment – particularly useful when we transport the grandkids and dogs around! (Which ones make more mess….?)

Join us on our travels around this great state of Western Australia.
