An opportunity for a weekend away down south with friends was presented and we grabbed it with both hands.
A new experience at the Gracetown Caravan Park was on offer and it didn’t disappoint.
It was a great base to explore the area, close to the Margaret River Wine Region and Dunsborough and only a short drive to Gracetown Beach.
A couple of hours south of Perth, around the Busselton bypass road and through the quaint town of Cowaramup (Cow Town) and then turning into Cowaramup Road to eventually cross Caves Road, a quick left/right manoeuvre and in 60m we were at the entrance to Gracetown Caravan Park.
A friendly greeting awaits, passes are issued to get through the security gate and you are into your coastal bush setting site.
The bays are generous in size and freeform in nature. Our site was close to the amenities block and adjacent to one of the on-site cabins. Being nature-based the level of your site depends on where you are – and if you are an avid TV watcher you need to connect to their provided antenna system to pick up a signal!
The park isn’t overly big with a couple of roads looping out from a central hub. This hub was the location for the amenities block, with the basketball and tennis courts, public seating area, and camp kitchen being located closer to the reception and entrance. There are several permanent structures, but still a lot of caravan and camping sites to choose from.
While we were there they were projecting movies each night on the grassed area near the camp kitchen. Great if you want to enjoy an evening movie in the outdoors with the kids, but a bit noisy if you want a quiet evening in either the camp kitchen or the communal fire pit that was just outside the entrance to the camp kitchen.
The communal fire pit was a healthy size, but when we were there it was the only place a fire was allowed.

The Gracetown Caravan Park difference.
It’s a friendly compact park, with some great amenities and enough activities to keep the whole family entertained.
The tennis court and basketball ring included some additional ball sports (soccer/football, etc) adjacent to the area that would keep the kids occupied. Plus, there is always the option of riding their bikes around the dirt tracks of the park.
The free mini-golf course was a real surprise and a great way to spend a couple of hours with the crew enjoying the challenges that each hole presented. The clubs and balls are free from reception.
While we were on the Mini Golf course we had to compete with the LLama Gone Wild!
Luckily he behaved himself (but he didn’t win….).
There is also a life-size bus cut-out near reception that is a great fun group photo opportunity.
Using the Gracetown Caravan park as a base you have easy access to the Margaret River Wine Regions with all that it has to offer, plus Dunsborough, Cowaramup and Busselton not too far away.
We utilised this proximity to access some of the great wineries, breweries, and fresh produce like olive oil and cheese that is produced locally.
A quick trip down to the Gracetown beach rewards with a swim, maybe some fishing and if you are that way inclined a surf on some of the legendary breaks off the coast.
With a natural, freeform setting, and convenient proximity to the attractions of the Margaret River region the Gracetown Caravan Park is on our list of parks to return to.
